Will Mechagodzilla Make His Return in Godzilla vs. Kong?!

Updated: Feb 4, 2021

Rumors and theories are running rampant will Mechagodzilla make his return!? Dragon Pirate certainly thinks so!

“Godzilla vs. Kong” has been on the minds of many fans for several months with several setbacks due to COVID-19. They finally got a taste of what is to come on March 31st of this year when the trailer dropped on January 24th.

After what the trailer had exposed left fans thinking this might be the film Mechagodzilla finally makes his long-awaited return to the MonsterVerse. Mechagodzilla first appeared in the Godzilla verse in the 1974 film “Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla”. He then would make four more appearances until 2003 in “Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S.”

Yes, he did make appearances in the anime films “Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters” (2018) and “Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle”, but we’re focusing on live-action appearances.

Almost twenty years since Mechagodzilla made his last appearance and it seems like his long-awaited return is long overdue.

To add more on his possible return there have been two scenes within the trailer exposing Mechagodzilla will be in this film and will serve as the main antagonist of this epic feature.

The first appears four seconds into the trailer after the city is being attacked by an unknown force. Upon inspecting the image, we can see red lighting in the underside of the unknown force and a possible mechanical outlining on the mouth.

Though, it’s tough to see if it is Mechagodzilla we can see it does not look like either Godzilla or Kong.

The next scene comes more than halfway through the trailer around the 1:42 mark when audiences are given a short shot of a screen in the background implicating Mechagodzilla’s appearance. We only see the feet and part of the upper body; it still is enough to have audiences confirming their theories that Mechagodzilla will finally make his return to the MonsterVerse.

It would even make sense to see him in this film as we saw from the trailer Godzilla is reckoning havoc upon mankind which seems to be a setup into framing Godzilla and making this entire fight possible.

Whether or not Mechagodzilla does appear in this film fans are still eager to see this masterpiece and what it will bring.

But let’s keep our fingers crossed that we finally will get to see Mechagodzilla in action after a nearly twenty-year hiatus.
