The Rigged Game Awards...

Updated: Dec 22, 2020

The biggest night in gaming and the biggest award of the night went to The Last of Us: Part 2!?!?

This year has definitely been full of surprises but I can honestly say that this goes on my list of disappointments. Last night The 2020 Game Awards were streaming at the exact same time that the Disney Investor’s meeting was streaming also, and though the games that were nominated were well deserved some of the winners, were very questionable.

GOTY = TLOU2!?!?

The results would show that Naughty Dog’s, The Last of US 2 would come out on top for this year to win not only Game of the Year but most of the other awards. Like many other Thursday when TLoU2 won Best Narrative of the Year over Ghost of Tsushima you and I both knew that these awards were rigged. But not only that to further pour salt and display probably what I would call the ultimate cringe is when you had Cobra Kai actresses, Mary Mouser and Peyton List talk about “Who was for Team Abby and Team Ellie” with Team Abby being the cliche winner at the end.

Is the game terrible? No, it’s a fine game it sold 12-15 million copies as a Playstation exclusive and a top 10 game. But you can’t deny the division it caused and the betrayal of the story, especially towards a favored character Ellie.

Although the only bright side is that Ghost of Tsushima did win Players Choice the fact that TLoU2 won Game of the Year was a clear indication that this was a way for the so-called critiques to stick it to the players which were very petty and unjust voting.

I’m going to keep this brief. Throughout the year TLoU2 has received not the best player reviews but praised by these critiques that I guarantee were probably part of the judging committee of the Awards and I wouldn’t doubt that Naughty Dog paid some if not all of them off to give most of the awards to TLoU2 in order to prove a point in their own agenda. These awards are supposed to be fair and allow everyone to participate in fair voting. But I digress and what this has shown is that our votes no longer matter, our voices no longer matter and we as players no longer matter if it doesn’t fall under their agenda. I am disappointed not only in this year’s 2020 Awards but at the committee and Naughty Dog. They can pat themselves on the back all they want but at the end of the day, they lost the faith of the fans.
